South King County Gang Survey Sparks Controversy Online

The Suburban King County Coordinating Council on Gangs created an online survey for residents “to better assess the gang problem in the Auburn, Bellevue, Federal Way, Highline, Kent, Renton, and Tukwila school districts.” Getting community input to develop strategies to confront gang related problems is a good thing right? But the comment section of the story as earlier reported in The Seattle Times showed a sharp divide between those who thought the survey was a good idea, a bad idea or a complete waste of time and money;

The Seattle Times coverage (read it here) received some heated comments from:

“Even on something as obvious as the growing gang problem in what was once upon a time a virtually gang free state, the far left pro-amnesty mob insists on ignoring facts and calling anyone who they disagree with a racist. Sad.”

to:

“When I was a teenager I was scared of the police, scared of consequences, and that kept me on the right side of the law, mostly, but with recent stories of brutality, killing and stories like John T Williams, it’s no wonder kids don’t respect the police, they don’t feel they get fair treatment, probably.”

You can read an update on the story from KOMO here at “Is There A Gang Problem In Your Community.”

The Crowley Law Firm PLLC which practices criminal defense Bellevue and these communities of Auburn, Federal Way, Highline, Kent, Renton, and Tukwila will be interested in the results of the survey when it is made available.
