Seattle Defense Attorney John Crowley To Represent Defendant In Cold Case| NEWS

For Immediate Release:

UPDATE

Seattle defense attorney John Crowley will be representing Rick Riffe of King Salmon, Alaska charged with the 1985 Aggravated Murder of a couple in Chehalis Washington. Mr. Riffe was arrested on July 8, 2012 by Lewis County, Washington deputies and Alaskan law enforcement officials.

Interviews with those who have known Mr. Riffe for many years expressed shock at the arrest.

“I was flabbergasted when I heard that,” said former King Salmon resident Buck Williams, recalling Riffe as a hard worker and good stepfather. “As far as I knew, he was a good man. I can only say positive things about him.”

“Riffe had worked as a truck driver and crane operator for Bristol Bay Contractors. He left the job several years ago, according to George Steinberg, who has worked for the company about 15 years. When told Monday of the arrest and allegations against Riffe, Steinberg said he was “kind of surprised” and said it was the first he had heard about it. “He was just a regular guy,” he said, according to The Associated Press. “Hard working.”

“After 26 years the prosecution amounts to the circumstances of a cold case,” says Attorney John Crowley.

Here is some background on the case from The Olympian.
