Federal Court Seattle To Get Cameras

But don’t get ready for your “close-up” yet, attorneys, the pilot program does not include “media” cameras. As reported in the Seattle Times, “The pilot project doesn’t involve media cameras; the recording is overseen and disseminated by court staff. Though the project was launched July 18, only a few proceedings have been uploaded because all parties involved — the judge, the lawyers and their clients — have to agree to the recording, said a spokeswoman for the courts’ Administrative Office.”

We have seen both the positive and negative effects of the camera in the courtroom but the Federal Court system seems to be applying their use in the pilot program in a judicious manner.
