The Supreme Court ruled 5 to 4 today that those who were convicted of a crack cocaine crime before the Fair Sentencing Act of 2010 was passed but were sentenced after its more lenient mandatory minimum sentences went into effect should have their sentences reviewed. The Court reversed the 7th Circuit opinion that the sentences were not to be applied retroactively. The Court’s decision and an analysis can be found on the SCOTUS blog here.
